Men don't get excited about washers!
Or is it? Our broke down on Christmas Eve and with a 9 year old boy, we were stuck. We couldn't wait for Amazon or one of it's partners to deliver quickly enough so off to Curry's where we paid somewhat more for this item, which I have to say was delivered and connected within two days.

The washing machine itself is well built, indeed, a friend who helped me install it into our "fitted" kitchen commented how well built it was and that the motors are considered in a completely different league to the belt driven machines of yesteryear. In use the machine is exceptionally quiet and despite its relatively slow 1200 rpm, the size of the drum spreads the surface area somewhat and the washing is no damper than what came out of our 1600 rpm hotpoint with a much smaller drum. The capacity is 8kg on our machine and I think that this might be wrongly labelled as 7kg capacity. Suffice to say, it swallows a huge load through a very wide door and to date has washed about 10 loads of washing ranging from our normal personal laundry, bedding and latterly the dog's bed. All of the items have left the machine very clean.

There are a plethora of programmes including a very swift 30 minute wash which actually took 42 minutes, as the machine has to allow the water to be warmed: like most modern washers it is cold fill only. There are arguments for and against this development, however with modern detergents needing lower temperatures and smaller amounts of water, the use of the hot fill has become somewhat limited unless you are needing water over 70 degrees and most washers only used the hot fill if the temperature was set this high anyway.

After a few days, we reckon that this machine is superb, it is quiet, it uses about 30% less electricity than our previous model and it washes our clothes really well and one last thing, because of the larger drum, they come out much less creased. I love it, I cannot believe how difficult our life was without a washing machine and now thanks to this item, the equilibrium has returned to our home. Can't wait to purchase the next appliance.

Pleased with this machine, in general
For my first trial of my new machine, I washed a load of white towels, using the cotton cycle, with the temperature set to 95, the spin cycle set to 1200, and the Crease Care button ON. I used my usual dollop of gel detergent put directly into the drum and about a tablespoonful of bleach in the fabric softener dispenser. (I never use fabric softener for towels, but prefer a spot of bleach for sterilising purposes.)

I didn't take note of the exact time it took (will do next time) but it was more than 2 hours.

The wash came out beautifully clean, seems to be well-rinsed, and incredibly soft and un-creased. The towels did not smell of bleach. Perfect result.

Very pleased with the result; a little less happy with the time it took to do the wash.

After the wash had finished, I sat with the machine and took note of each cycle's maximum spin, maximum temperature, and average length of cycle. The results are as follows:

Delicate - 800rpm * - 40º - 51 minutes

Handwash - 800rpm * - 40º - 49 minutes

BioCare - 1200rpm - 95º - 2 hours, 26 minutes

White - 800rpm (WHY?!) - 95º - 2 hours, 48 minutes

BabyCare - 800rpm - 95º - 2 hours, 45 minutes

Cotton - 1200rpm - 95º - 1 hour, 54 minutes

CottonQuick - 800rpm (WHY?!) * - 60º - 1 hour, 26 minutes

Synthetic - 800rpm - 60º - 1 hour, 15 minutes

Blanket - 800rpm - 95º - 1 hour, 40 minutes

Bulky - 1200rpm * - 30º - 1 hour, 9 minutes

Quick30 - 1200rpm * - 40º - 37 minutes

Rinse&Spin - 1200 - - 22 minutes

Spin - 1200 - 17 minutes

* no CreaseGuard feature is selectable with this cycle (WHY???)

I am very annoyed that certain programmes don't allow selection of the 1200 spin option. I certainly can't understand why the White and CottonQuick cycles only allow an 800 spin, which will certainly require an EXTRA spin at 1200, adding 17 minutes to an already-lengthy wash time. Cottons get just as wet on these cycles as any other! The CottonQuick cycle ALSO does not allow the Crease-Guard feature to be selected either. So, if you want soggy, creased cottons served up 28 minutes sooner, by all means, choose CottonQuick. Otherwise, choose some other cycle.

The plain Cotton cycle works fine, but takes a helluva long time. It can be shortened some by reducing the temperature to 40º, although it still takes at least 1 hour, 37 minutes to do a normal wash at 1200 WITHOUT CreaseGuard. It does do a great job with the clothes, though, and the fact that the clothes are tumbled 4 times after the normal spin does help reduce the wrinkles. The CreaseGuard, if selected, adds about 4 minutes to the overall time, but the clothes come out in perfectly unwrinkled condition. A great feature!

The Quick30 allows a 1200 spin, and 40º suits me, and the 37-minute-cycle is pretty good for small loads. This is a cycle I will probably use often, despite its lack of a CreaseGuard option. However, BIG BIG FLAW. This cycle only allows 3kg of laundry to be done at one time! In a 7kg machine! What a PAIN. What are they thinking of? Why didn't they just call it a Half-Load cycle instead, which is what it actually is? I feel quite cheated by this option, which was supposed to be quicker, not smaller! Geez.

I have also tried the Bulky cycle with a normal wash load, to see what happens. The machine's Detector allowed me to choose this option with a lot of normal clothing in it. It's got the 1200 spin and a 30º wash temperature, and only took just over an hour to complete. It didn't allow the CreaseGuard, but the wash does automatically tumble 4 times after the cycle has finished, so the clothes came out reasonably wrinkle-free. I'd only ever washed at 40º as the lowest temperature before, but the drop to 30º didn't matter too much. (If ever the Detector doesn't allow me to choose this option because my load isn't bulky enough, though, I will be mightily cheesed off!) I can see myself using this cycle fairly often, otherwise.

Did I happen to say how much I hate and fear the Detector? I keep waiting for it to throw a strop, and refuse to do my washing until I straighten up and fly right! It's like they've installed Inspector Slack from Miss Marple into my machine! So far I've managed to stay on its good side, though.

One other minor annoyance - the "Pause" button only holds the wash for 4 minutes. If, after that time, you haven't re-started the machine, it turns itself off and all the programming is lost. You'll need to start ALL over again. Not terribly handy, if you've paused the machine to answer the phone or some other reason which might take longer than 4 minutes.

So far I have not resorted to using the MedicRinse option, as the clothes I've washed so far seem to come out fairly soap-free. Very pleased with this; it's a huge improvement on my previous (non-LG) machine. I'm not sure how the MedicRinse cycle actually operates; I don't know if it uses more water (the best option) or if it just adds another rinse cycle with tiddly bits of water and lots more time and energy (not the best option.) However, so far I've not needed it, which is good.

The control panel is initially intimidating, as it resembles the flight deck of a Boeing 747. However, once I got over being intimidated by the bells and whistles and flashing lights, I discovered it's actually very easy and intuitive to use. In fact, the bells are quite helpful in letting me know when washing has finished, when I've made a mistake in programming a cycle, and the flashing display tells me exactly what's happening with the wash and how much longer it's going to take. (Mind you, the display did stick for nearly 10 minutes at the `7-minute' mark during one cycle, but anybody can make a mistake, even a machine!)

Another BIG plus. LG has finally eliminated the insanely long time between a wash cycle ending and the door unlocking. My previous (non-LG) machine had a 3-minute delay, which drove me to the brink of insanity. The machine I had before that -- also not an LG -- had a delay of a minute and a half. This new LG opens the door more or less immediately after the cycle has finished. Yee-ha! No more hanging around the machine, staring at my watch for several minutes. So far I've not lost an arm in the process, so it seems to be safe enough.

This machine has a `revolutionary' new design, which has attached the drum directly to the machine's motor. This is supposed to make the machine run more quietly. So far, I must say, I haven't noticed much of a difference between this one and my previous machines, especially during the 1200 spin cycle. In fact, the spin cycle is quite noisy, with lots of floor vibration. This could be a problem with my bouncy floor, and isn't something I can't live with - but you should not buy this machine based on the premise that it will be quiet. It's not, really.

So far, I am reasonably pleased with the machine. It seems sturdy and well-made. I am extremely annoyed that there isn't any one programme I can select which doesn't have some disadvantage; with a little more engineering attention paid to how folks actually DO their laundry, these annoyances could have been avoided. However, compared to the specifications of other machines -- including one which was far more expensive, but didn't have a separately-selectable spin cycle to use on handwashed items (!) - this LG is the best I could find. I can live with its programming flaws, and am very pleased with the way my clothes come out. So far, so good. I would recommend this machine to any prospective buyer.

effective and economical
This easy to operate, plastic machine, which has a maximum operating temperature of 50-60 degrees, has washed both whites and colours effectively using liquid detergent, even in cold water - I have yet to use the supplied wash balls. Each load has taken about 3 minutes and has used very little electricity.
The spin dryer isn't quiet and is only big enough for one pair of trousers but it removes enough of the water to prepare for drying the clothes.
While no plumbing is required, the plastic drain hose would fit an existing kitchen outlet pipe.

Cheap but does what it says
It arrived and fitted my small space exactly - certainly better than a traditional washing machine would. At first sight, it is clean simple and plastic! Lots of plastic. Still it seems sturdy enough - at least the twin tub itself seems to be. Easily set up - you basically need a power supply and a drain outlet (either a sink or washing machine outlet) - note:the drain needs to be very close, the waste pipe ain't long. You also need to be near a tap or a washing machine feeder pipe unless you want to carry buckets of water to fill the thing up.
So, it works simply. Plonk your washing in the washer side with powder, liquid or those bally things that come with it and fill with appropriate amount of water (the rather unhelpful translated manual does not specify how much that is, so i just made sure the washing was covered)at the appropriate temperature. The capacity of the thing is quite impressive -the manual again does not specify a limit but all the sales blurb says 3kg dry - which it turns out is quite a good amount. Next, switch on, leave it on the timer and come back in 15 minutes, drain the tub by flicking the switch and transfer the washing to the spinner (which seems as though it may struggle to cope with 3kg of washing), spin and rinse in the spinner (5mins) and then transfer back into washing tub and fill with more water! Dead easy, back and forth you go.
You are left with a tub of spun dry and very clean clothing - it seems able to remove most if not all stains and the spinner is very effective. Depending on how much you want to wash, the whole process will take 30 - 60 mins requiring intervention every 15 mins or so.
Its obviously not as hands free as a fully automatic but is soooooo much easier, better and quicker than hand washing or going to the laundrette.
Good points - cheap, small, easy to use, cheap to run, washes well, spins well
Bad points - rubbish manual, the filling hose is woeful at best - it is full of holes and i have abandoned mine after one wash, i don't expect it to last forever but if it lasts a year or more then i will be happy!

Have you ever got frustrated pushing an ordinary upright vacuum cleaner back and forth, back and forth to steer around furniture and other obstacles? Have a look underneath it, and you'll see that's because it sits on fixed wheels – perfect if all you want to do is travel in a straight line, but not so good at corners. Frustration is an important source of invention for Dyson engineers – it sparks new ideas, new ways of solving problems. It was their frustration with fixed wheels that led them to develop a new way of turning corners.

Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which pivots around itself so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist. The idea for Ball technology came about from a Dyson engineer studying new ways to steer. It started crudely - an old wand handle attached to a wheel. Eventually the wheel became a ball - and an ideal home for the motor.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene – the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with resistance to distortion. Cleaning is no longer a chore
We used to own a Dyson, and it was brilliant - easy to use and it sucked up so much dirt compared to other makes of vacuum. However, it wasn't that robust and only lasted a couple of years. We then bought a cheaper vacuum which only lasted about the same time - the trouble was it didnt clean nearly so well.
So we came back to Dyson and this model is absolutely BRILLIANT. The design is stunning, the extendable hose is great, it is even easy to empty. And yes, the ball does make it more manoeverable (but I wouldnt buy it just for the ball feature). It is quiet compared to other machines, and the suction is superb. We have only used it for 3 weeks now, but each time I really do marvel at how good it is.
However, how robust is it? Not only does this need to be a great performer for the money (which it is), but it needs to last. So I wouldnt have given 5 stars yet, but as it comes with a 5 year warranty who can argue with that?
Perhaps I will review it again in 3 years time!

House work made enjoyable!
Have used a Dyson DC01 for the past 15 years along with various other brands that came and went! DC25 arrived today (2 days after ordering it through Amazon!) and it is absolutely brilliant! It addresses all the issues I had with the DC01 which was best in its class at the time. The DC25 is light weight, has adequate capacity and deals with all types of floor at the flick of a switch. The ball takes the effort out of the pushing and changes of direction are effortless. Well done Dyson this is a winner!Dyson DC25 Allfloors- The Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Iron Satin Yellow

Absolutely fabulous
Having satisfactorily owned hoover, panasonic, electrolux and goblin vacuum cleaners over the years I was a little sceptical about this new design machine, not least the cost of it.
I have found the DC25 far superior to any other vacuum cleaner I have owned. Its exceptionally effective at cleaning, very maneuverable and relatively light weight. Taking into account the 5 year guarantee that comes with this cleaner I consider the Dyson DC25 to be very good value for money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - in fact I will be purchasing another one - for my mother-in-law for next Christmas (2008).

The ulitimate Hoovering machine !
I've floor-tested this machine on tiles, wood and carpet for about 6 months now and I'm very impressed with it's usability, design and cleaning results.

First impressions once out of the box were that is was smaller than anticipated (if you have a large house you may be better off with the DC25) and the design was a bit "busy". However, once I found the quick start booklet, I was up and running within 2 minutes.

It really is brilliantly designed with lots of nice touches. The track is narrow but this means it gets into places that no Hoover has ever been before, and as it picks up first time, cleaning time is greatly reduced. The ball design works well and it turns quicker than Michael Owen (the Liverpool years). The suction unit and brushes are very far forward so it picks-up right at the front, again a good time-saver. It has a button to switch off the brushes when on hard floors. The collector is not huge but emptying is a doddle - just don't press that red button BEFORE you're over a bin (like I did). Pull out the handle, turn it round and click it into place and there's your suction arm. No spider is safe with this machine in action. If James Bond did the vacuuming, he'd use one of these. It only comes with one tool end which cleverly switches between nozzle and brush but the brush is too easily pushed back in for my liking.

The "main" booklet is a few pages long and mostly pretty pictures but they explain everything well, particularly when it comes to filter cleaning. Removing the filter from the ball is a bit fiddly the first time but ok once you know what you're doing. Note - the instructions say that the filters should be cleaned every month, and not every 3-6 months as stated in the amazon product description. Every month seems a bit over the top to be honest but I guess it depends how much it gets used. I don't have a dog or cat so can't comment on how well it picks up pet hairs, it may be worth checking other models and reviews for that.

Tool not so clever, and it doesn't come with a crevice tool as standard. I'd recommend the Dyson Soft Dusting Brush
Removing the ball filter for cleaning is a bit tricky (make sure the vac is laid right back first)

This is my first Dyson as I've previously been a bit put off by the price and size but this is compact and not too expensive on here. It's a Grand Design in your kitchen cupboard :o)

After 2 years loyal service, and a couple of accidental tumbles down the stairs, it's still working as good as ever and I see it now comes with additional tools (no doubt in response to my comments lol!), hence I've upped my rating to vac-tastic 5 stars :o)

Piles of power in a tiny package
After our vacuum handle snapped off, my mother went out on a mission to replace it with a budget cleaner. Two weeks later, after purchasing 6 machines and taking them all back, either due to them having no tools, being too heavy or just blocking up, she was pursuaded to pay the significantly larger amount for the DC24. And she has never been more pleased. It's light enough for her to carry up the stairs and across the carpet, especially important due to her RSI, and yet it still packs enough power to leave the carpets like new. The collapsing handle means it can be stored under a shelf in a small cupboard, and the emptying is easier and less messy than the others she had tried - you simply take the sealed clear bin off the cleaner, walk to the outside bin, and press the empty button. Despite the small size of the bin, it gets only half full after cleaning a two bedroomed terraced house. The brushbar is easy to turn off, so previously uncleaned rugs and hard floors are a doddle. The hose may not reach to the top of a staircase, but the machine is so light, you can walk up the stairs carrying it, so it's not a problem. I would recommend this for people with smaller homes, flats, those with joint problems or the growing old, and those with much larger homes may find one with a larger hose/cable more suitable.

surprisingly ok..
I bought this dyson, not really realising the size of it... I had read previous reviews but didnt really take in how small it was! I was very disappointed when I opened the box and saw it..However, I've kept it as it is actually very good, I want to say its rubbish etc but it isnt.. On the other hand, I only have carpets upstairs, I would suggest the bigger model for a house full of carpets. Its really light to use on the stairs and the suction is pretty good too. I suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis and its light and easy to use on my joints. It makes me laugh everytime I look at it, as it looks like a toy one. I would rate this item as 8 out of 10.

I needed a tent that was both lightweight and had a reasonably small pack size, as i was going to be doing the Land's End - John O Groats cycle (no support & carrying all equipment). I looked long and hard, and for tents in this price range, one of such weight and pack size, was very hard to come by!

Although i was alone, the reason i wanted a two man tent was because i had two large panniers. However, there probably would have been enough room for another person with my panniers as well.

I was putting the tent up every evening and taking it down again the following morning for a fortnight, and although that in itself was tedious towards the end, it was very easy; from the point of actually emptying the tent (so it was ready to take down) to the point of it actually being packed away in its little bag, took about 15mins by the end of the fortnight, (hardest part of course squeezing it into the bag). Some of the tent pegs got seriously bent due to the huge range in soil density throughout the trip, but nothing 20mins couldnt sort out in my spare time.

As for keeping me dry, i guess it wasnt really a fair test, as i travelled the first half of this September, which just so happened to be dry every day. Although waking up high in the Scottish Highlands, there was a considerable amount of dew, to which i remained dry, and A LOT of wind; but the tent stood strong, and i got a good nights sleep.

So, for the verdict...

If you're looking for a cheap, small pack size, lightweight tent, this is perfect. (I am planning on using it again next year, when i cycle it all over again). I do understand i never had seriously bad weather, but, if you set the tent up properly, i see no physical way in which the inhabitant could get wet!

Wetman Tent
This is a very elegant and clever tent but unfortunately it fails on the basic requirement - to keep you dry! Love the light weight, easy pitch design and the double side doors but it leaks !! The vent panel below the hoop drips constantly in heavy rain and both occupants get wet. Also flysheet rests on inner tent at foot level so that doesn't work either !!! a shame 'cos otherwise a nice piece of kit.

Good to look at but the inside of the tent was soaking wet in the morning, will try and leave a door open next time to let moisture out but that will let in the bugs and that defeats the object of the thing. no room for kit if 2 people camping.

Brilliant!
Ok, OK. so it may no be ideal for D of E or long serious mountain treks, But for a weekend or festival there is nothing better. it takes about a minute for a 15 year old male ( and i never read instructions!)to set up. its suprisingly easy to pack up because of the hook and ring things that keep that tent in a neat circle. it has a 2000mm water proof spec, so it will do for rain, but it wont survive a huricane. and as for it not rolling up to go in a rucksack, do you really want a festival tent for expeditions...if so you really dont have any idea on what your buying.

Fantastic little tent!!
Brilliant little tent!! Bought it for a festival, and it did me proud!! Ideal for one person and stuff for a long weekend!! It got subjected to a thunderstorm, lots of rain and some quite strong winds!! It didn't budge, leak or blow away-what more can you ask?? Only thing was the condensation and the heat during the day, but that's the same for pretty much all tents!! I would definately recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to pitch and pack one-man number!! So easy to pitch, I got it all set up once, but had left a bit of a gap, so took it down and put it back up again within 5 minutes and I am a girl and not an experienced camper!! I would recommend having a go at taking it down again before you actually use it, but it basically has colour coded hooks so pretty difficult to go wrong!! Really great little tent!!

Great Pink Tent!!!
After ordering this tent I was a little worried thinkin that it wouldnt be waterproof enough if there was a major downpour an i had made a mistake. After setting it up, which was unbelievably easy!! (It literally just pops up then peg it down! Its brilliant an so easy, even for the girliest of girls to put up.) Its just enough room for a single airbed and when the downpour came (which lets face it, this is England, the downpour always comes!) I was amazed by how warm and dry the tent was!! It blocked out pretty much all the wind with its sleek shape and didn't let a drop of rain in! It is a little awkward that it packs up into a large flat pancake shape, but it just adds to the fun of the tent. It is a truly brilliant little tent, great for festivals or a fun weekend camping trips :) All doubts I originally had were well and truly dispelled and was absolutely amazed by it! A very good and highly recommended purchase!!!

Great Tent
What a superb tent from Coleman !
Very good quality and huge ! We bought this style as it looked simple to put up - and it was....just 4 poles to thread through - couldn't be easier. Great looking tent and very stable in the wind. I'd recommend this tent to anybody. Forget all those complicated 'pod type' dome tents and go for this style - absolutely no stress to put up or take down - gives you more time to enjoy your holiday !!

Great tent
Bought the Coleman coastline 6 man tent after much looking around, and reading of reviews just like this one. I have to say we weren't disappointed in our purchase, excellent value for money and was delivered in a few days. We pitched it in the garden first a good tip saves you being the entertainment when you go camping. (unless your a experienced camper that is)It took two of us 30 mins, and we are complete novices, our first time camping. We were amazed at the space and size it gave us even with the two bedrooms up, loved the roll up windows very inventive. It took us about the same time to take it down and we even got it into the bag again, more luck than judgement actually no, because we went camping a few weeks later and no problems at all, it rained on the second day well chucked it down actually and the tent remained waterproof and dry. If we have any complaints we wish the windows were a little bigger and the front didn't slope as much, seems to take up more space than need to. All in all though a really well made and excellent tentColeman Coastline 6 Deluxe 6 Man Tent - Green/Grey.

Amazing Family Tent
A brillaint tent if you are looking to start out on your adventure. We have 3 kids and this ten has plenty of space for all us on weekend away. Easy to put up and once up seems very spacious and airy due to the windows.... Loads of room to put a little table and chairs up too.....Bargain. Seems very good at retaining the heat from the sun too for later on in the evening when you get in your sleeping bag. Easy to fold back up into it's bag too which ive found to be a nightmare in the past. Worth every penny as loads of extra's to if you shop around.

I already have a Colmman Sahra which is much bigger than the Waterfall but at 35Kg is to heavy for my KTM motorcycle. The Waterfall is only 14Kg and is nearly as big and fits on the rear of the KTM when touring. Build qualitity is as aspected by Colman, very high with some very nice touches. The main reason for purchasing this tent is that its just high enough to stand-up in the sleeping area and the dome front area is excellent for seating, storage and I use it as an indoor covered area when the whether is bad. In the past I carried a pop-up gazebo but now cannot carry on a motorcycle so this design allow me to do both within one tent. The only downside is the 40 wire peg's which are useless in hard ground, I purchased 20 'T' shaped alloy 8" peg's which are good for hard ground and sandy conditions, I have never used all the peg's provided so use your initative at the time and location when pitching.
If you want to camp for a couple of months around europe in a car, van, pick-up truck the Colman sahra & gazebo is the way, BUT if travelling light & fast the colman Waterfall is the way to go; just pitch the tent near a tree for shade in the heat of Southern Europe at the height of summer.

great space, great tent
I bought this tent for myself and my wife as a "camping from the car" tent, as opposed to the hiking and camping that i would do with the guys. It is large, spacious and on our trial in the garden before we set of had it up and down again within 30 mins. We took it around Ireland last week and have been more than happy with it. No major faults or problems found after a week of up and down.

Good looking, good design
Thought I would write this review to counter some of the overly strong negative review of the design aspects of this tent. Attachments of the guys appear strong and secure. The dome side of the tent can be pegged down at the additional eyeholes where the poles attach. Door closing - no problem!

Apart from this being a neat, good looking and airy tent , the good build quality is matched by such ergonomic nice design touches as colour matched sleeves and poles for fast easy identification during set up. Up and down in 10 minutes each way - easy.
Only reason for not 5 stars is lack of wider range of pockets pouches and loops (though these do exist). Overall - a happy camper.

Henry's just keep on going!
My first (but not last!) Henry has just died after 20 years loyal service. During which time he has taken several knocks and falls that would have destroyed (or at least severally damaged) most other machines. He has managed to consume huge amount of builders related mess as well as normal household dust and items! The dust bag is twice the size found in a lot of other machines, so hardly ever needs changing; plus the machine may be operated without a dust bag if required.

Thus I have no hesitation in giving this machine a 5 star rating.

At the start of the year the model was upgraded to HVR200-22 (i.e. the one Amazon is currently selling). Beware many companies are still trying to sell the old 1100w version - hence their 'special / promotional' prices!

N.B the 'R' in HVR200-22 stands for Red. The machine is also available in Blue, Green and Yellow.

Shear Brilliance
Forget Dyson. Forget Hoover. Forget Nilfisk. Forget the rest. This is the best vacumn cleaner on the market. I have one myself and will have no other. We use them on building sites to clean up after working. They lift concrete dust, wood shavings, sawdust and soot, no problem. Tough and small they are indestructable!!!

YOU'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VAC
Well, what can I say? This is my forth vac in the last 6 years, my latest being a Dyson upright (over twice the price of this), which was too heavy and tended to chew up my carpet. Don't fall for Dyson, that's all I'm going to say.

As for this little corker, where do I start? I'd known about Henry before as he's appeared in most offices I've worked in and shops I've shopped in. Surely that meant something I thought? Absolutely right.

Don't be fooled by his size, colour and kid like grin - Henry means business! Believe everything you read about him.

After much deliberation over which type to get (having 2 very hairy cats) I opted for the regular HVR200-22. The '-22' is important as this is the latest 1200w version with Hi/Lo switch. ...And I've just tried it out.

First, my solid wood floors, it worked effortlessly, taking up everything. The great thing is that the main floor tool/brush sucks from every side so room corners are handled quickly.

Next, the stairs and carpets. OK, a little more hard work now but this is because a have quite a deep pile. Still, I thought this might be an issue and I did consider both the HenryXtra (with the air driven 'Airo' brush) and the Henry Hound (with the electic Turbo brush), but I prefered to stick with the basic model (I wanted it Red with nothing more than the word 'Henry' on it, my god, I've been more particular about this than the last car I bought!) however I have ordered seperately an 'Airo' brush (also in red with a cute smile) which apparently is suitable for most Henry types, so remember you can always add an extra at a later date if you find you need to.

Cat hair - no problem, went over it once, not a trace left!
And finally, I tried it quickly on the lino in my bathroom, and just as with the wood floors, no problem!

As for noise levels, I'm amazed. It's so quiet (even more so on the 70% 'Lo' setting) - the cats don't run away. In fact, at one point I thought it'd lost it's suction because there wasn't much noise coming from the end of the hose.

I haven't tried all the tools, but I quickly tried the crevice tool for clearing up some cat litter. Once you've taken the main hose off, blimey, then you feel it's power! (I wouldn't put it anywhere near your face though!)

This is a superb all rounder and I think he's gonna be with me for a long long time. He is British made. All parts of him feel sturdy, somewhat heavy duty (although he's not heavy) and are of quality. When you take him out of his box, he's all set to go. Fantastic!

So go for it, you definitely won't regret it. And remember to get the latest -22 version with the green Hi/Lo switch because some high street retailers don't mention this in their descriptions and you may end up one with an earlier/lower wattage. Great!

The ulitimate Hoovering machine !
I've floor-tested this machine on tiles, wood and carpet for about 6 months now and I'm very impressed with it's usability, design and cleaning results.

First impressions once out of the box were that is was smaller than anticipated (if you have a large house you may be better off with the DC25) and the design was a bit "busy". However, once I found the quick start booklet, I was up and running within 2 minutes.

It really is brilliantly designed with lots of nice touches. The track is narrow but this means it gets into places that no Hoover has ever been before, and as it picks up first time, cleaning time is greatly reduced. The ball design works well and it turns quicker than Michael Owen (the Liverpool years). The suction unit and brushes are very far forward so it picks-up right at the front, again a good time-saver. It has a button to switch off the brushes when on hard floors. The collector is not huge but emptying is a doddle - just don't press that red button BEFORE you're over a bin (like I did). Pull out the handle, turn it round and click it into place and there's your suction arm. No spider is safe with this machine in action. If James Bond did the vacuuming, he'd use one of these. It only comes with one tool end which cleverly switches between nozzle and brush but the brush is too easily pushed back in for my liking.

The "main" booklet is a few pages long and mostly pretty pictures but they explain everything well, particularly when it comes to filter cleaning. Removing the filter from the ball is a bit fiddly the first time but ok once you know what you're doing. Note - the instructions say that the filters should be cleaned every month, and not every 3-6 months as stated in the amazon product description. I don't have a dog or cat so can't comment on how well it picks up pet hairs, it may be worth checking other models and reviews for that.

Discrepancy about the filter cleaning times, but ultimately I guess it depends on how often you use it and where

This is my first Dyson as I've previously been a bit put off by the price and size but this is compact and not too expensive on here. It's a Grand Design in your kitchen cupboard :o)

Incredible performance for the size
I had never used a Dyson before and my preconception was that they are massively over-priced for a vacuum cleaner. When my cheap cylinder cleaner finally packed-in I looked around for an upright that was compact but effective and this new DC24 model just caught my eye and I thought I'd give it a chance, though it was about £50 more than my budget. The Amazon deal was the best one I could find. When it arrived the next day I was shocked by how compact it really is. The performance is phenomenal though - it pulls up vastly more dust than my cylinder did and the motorized brush bar is a great advantage. The thing that strikes you most though is how well thought out the whole design is - the little features like converting the handle to a cleaning wand and the ease of emptying the bin are what really makes the cost justifiable. Buy one, you won't regret it!

An effective, high spec phone
I've been using it for a month now, and I'm really pleased with it. The screen is clear with lots of detail, all the functions work - internet, email, music player, maps the widgets on the home screen. The camera is very good for a phone, too. What sold it for me was the keyboard, and it's as good as I hoped for. Makes surfing the net and entering text much more pleasurable. And of course writing emails etc. Ovi store works nicely for Apps, although there is still a lack of games!

Gripes? Well the video camera can produce images that are a bit mushy.The user interface is not as slick as some other phones. The music player doesn't carry across artwork images, for some reason.

It's better than the iphone 3gs for web browsing (higher resolution screen, java enabled for youtube etc, and the keyboard, of course). It also has proper bluetooth and multitasking. But the interface is a bit clunky and there aren't as many apps (yet).

Impressive features on a budget friendly smartphone
I've had this phone for 3 months on contract, it's the exact same phone.

I was trying to reduce the number of gadgets to charge and have with me. I used to carry a mobile phone, a PDA (Dell Axim) and sometimes an iPod mini. This one thing has managed to replace them all without too much compromise.

For the features on offer and the slim profile of the phone, the battery life is really impressive. I get 2 days usage before requiring a recharge with 3G switched on with probably.
- checking mail around 10 times a day
- sending around 20 SMS's
- around 30mins to 1 hour talking per day
- using the web for around 2 hours
- listening to audio (podcasts and music) for around 2 hours per day
- checking calendar, around 30 mins per day

The headphone socket is 2.5mm which is a small pain, I bought a set of Seinheusers with a 2.5mm jack to solve this. I notice a background 'hiss' from the phone using headphones, I'm fairly sure it's the phone causing it and not the headphones, but can't be certain. Many other people reported the same problem via the web, it's not too bad when you get used to it. I notice that music from my iPod is far far cleaner and better to listen and appreciate music with. It's a trade off I made which I think was right for me but might not suit everyone. Recommend trying to listen to one if this sounds like a problem for yourself. The speaker is good and loud, I listen to music from it in the kitchen making food, it's good enough to hear over my pot banging and chopping!

The screen is bright and big enough to read. Yes I do sometimes which it was as pretty as the newer, larger screens on recent devices, however the display is really sharp and clear and probably contributes to the battery life.

Sound quality for phone calls is good. I haven't had too much experience of other phones, but I can hear callers perfectly well. In louder places, I have noticed I have to slightly press the phone to my ear to catch everything being said.

Navigation around menus is excellent. Nokia really thought hard and provided lots of little expert user shortcuts. For example, on the home screen I can type a name of a person and their contact name appears allowing a short leap from there to sending them an SMS, email, text, photo.

The camera is a much poorer affair. Low light pictures are poor, bright outside ones are OK. Anything inbetween is usually disappointing. For me, I only capture snaps for sending to the web or other phones, I wasn't too bothered about this but recommend watching it if you are used to good quality pictures from your phone.

As with all Symbian phones there is a strong software market which is easy to access. Much software is free, some more corporate based software obviously costs. I've found that the software provided on the phone really captures almost everything you'd want, however I installed a few packages which were all free from the Internet (Google maps, Fring, Opera Mini, Twibble, Smart Connect).

I added an 8Gb micro SD card to the phone for around £10 from Amazon which allowed me to fit around 50 CD's worth of music. I also have podcasts which download their music to the 8Gb card too, I've found this plenty of space to get by. Other higher capacity cards exist, but I haven't personally justified the extra cost of the bigger cards.

The keyboard takes a while to get used to. I had a Nokia 6300 before this model and yearned for the predictive features and numeric keypad. But I'm now much more used to this keyboard QWERTY layout. I would note that the E71 supports predictive entry which helps, but I find I have to use two thumbs to really speed out messages on it. The keyboard itself is really good quality, easy to use and forgiving when I press the edge of a key.

I am not a fan on the dust which has started to gather behind the screen. It's slightly distracting when the backlight goes off and you can see the dust, but it's a very minor quibble.

The GPS feature isn't a killer feature for me, but it's very useful. I rarely find myself wondering what's in the area because I frequent the same places. However it was handy on holiday trying to get around the area. I've also used it a few times to find a nearby coffee shop when I have time to spare.

The phone is very smim and fairly light, certainly when you consider the features in the phone it's very impressive.

This phone doesn't play back movies at a great quality, it's nearly good enough but not quite. The screen is too small to make this sensible, but that's not what I bought this phone for.

Applications have crashed perhaps in total around 10-15 times since I've had this phone. I don't think this is uncommon given all phones are increasing in their complexity. I couldn't rule out 3rd party apps I've installed being the cause. I just live with this and have come to tolerate this in these more complex devices.

I've not taken it abroad, but it is quad band meaning it should work in other countries.

This phone is my ideal package at the moment. I purchased this with a data package allowing me to use limitless Internet connectivity. I'd recommend doing the same to get the most from the phone.

If you note my negatives above (music hiss, camera not too great) and pick up the strong points (3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, lots of features in one device, 2 day battery, good UI) you should be very happy with this phone.

Also take a look at the E72, it loses a few features and has a lower price, I suspect it reviews similarly to the E71.

Unbelievable
This is without doubt not only one of the best phones Nokia have ever produced, but the best I have ever owned.
It is literally crammed with features, like support for Office documents, 3.5g (HSDPA), WiFi, Bluetooth, IrDA, GPS, a Sat Nav ap, 3.2mp camera with AF and Flash, full music playing software with support for 8gb Micro SDHC cards, QWERTY keyboard etc etc... the list really does go on.
The size of the thing is a source of confusion. Quite how they've managed to fit all this tech into a device less than 10mm thick is beyond me... Normally feature-rich smart phones of this type tend to drain the battery at a rapid rate, and particularly in a device this thin you might imagine that standby/talk time would be poor. But oh no, Nokia have managed to squeeze a 1500MaH battery into the E71, which gives it a real edge over other phones in this class. In light to moderate use, it will last 7-10 days. Heavy use of all the features will shorten this time to 4 or 5 days, which is still mightily impressive.
Overall, an inspired piece of technology, which every business user or consumer should have on their mobile phone wish list. Highly recommended!

Fantastic new QWERTY phone from Nokia
Having been a Blackberry user in the past, I'm impressed to see Nokia have definitely now 'caught up' in qwerty phones. I still use my Nokia N95 for weekends, but this is my weekday warrior now. Really fast for typing emails, web surfing etc. The camera phone is quick and good, and I usually end up emailing the images via gmail (which I set up on the phone in 30 secs!) Also web surfing is straightforward, with good screen size and res. I have my Ovi Share account, as well as Flickr and Facebook accounts, connected so I can send images, links etc. to my networks. Battery life is good too, which really makes a difference when you're on the move and little time to charge. A nifty feature I've started using is a program which wirelessly transmits the phone screen's image to my laptop for product demos etc. With a portable projector I can then project the phone's image to a big screen for presentation on large screens. Cool. I've got used to the compact keypad now, and its much more accurate and effective than it feels at first. I also like the alternate home screen (I have one set up for work, the other for play). I also use Nokia maps for driving and walking nav and its pretty handy. Good work Nokia.

It was finally time for us to go fully digital and retire our analogue TV. We're very pleased by the 32LH3000. It seems to be an excellent product at a very reasonable price. We've been using it for standard definition digital TV, DVDs, and Xbox gaming. Everything on it has worked just as it should have, right from the start.

The picture quality is excellent; the colours seem rich and bright; sound fills the modest size living room very comfortably. It was easy to set up and the on-screen instructions were clear and easy to follow. The electronic programme guide is responsive and well designed as are all of the on-screen menus. This is a stark contrast with the Samsung HDD that we also use. The freeview tuner on the 32LH3000 is also more accurate and sensitive than the Samsung. It gives clearer images with fewer digital artefacts.

The set also offers excellent connectivity including 3 HDMI inputs, two component HD, two SCART, antenna, RCA and 3mm sound, headphone and more. The input and output layout is sensibly designed, a cable catcher keeps the many cables tidy, and the swivel stand enables us to access a set of inputs and outputs around the back, but accessible from the side. This keeps them out of sight, but leaves the accessible - great for gaming devices and headphones. I love the thoughtful feature of being able to select a label for each input selector (e.g., Games for one HDMI input, DVD for another). LG has the nicest design of the (many) remotes that we have. It is simple and clean with clearly labelled buttons and a battery cover that is tethered to the remote and doesn't fall off when dropped.

Altogether, the 32LH3000 purchased through Amazon has been a superb consumer experience. They both delivered the goods.

I purchased this TV from Amazon, and as usual it arrived when it was supposed to and the price was a lot better than on the high street.
Set up was quick and easy, just a few screws for the stand then turn it on and answer a couple of questions and it sets itself up in a less than 5 minutes.
I bought the TV for my parents to put in the living room and it is brilliant, they didnt want anything larger than 32" so there wasnt really any point in getting a 1080p set. The picture quality is excellent on freeview and even better with Sky and to be honest just as good as my larger 1080p Sony Bravia. There are a few presets and many individual settings you can adjust to get the picture how you like it. Sound quality is very good too considering the size of the speakers, especially if you have a play with a few of the options.
The remote is uncluttered and easy to use and the on screen freeview guide is pretty good too.
One thing that may be a problem for some users is that this TV only has one scart socket, but it does have 3 HMDMI sockets so shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Overall a great TV at a great price.

I bought this for my mother-in-law before there were any reviews available, based on my own good experience with the 40" Samsung LE40A656.

At the time this model (LE32B450C4) was on sale for the same price as the Samsung LE32A436T (for which there were a lot of positive reviews).
It was hard to tell from the Samsung site what were the benefits of one model compared with the other, but I guessed that the LE32B450C4 was the newer model and went for it anyway, despite the lack of user reviews.

Other reviews have criticised the sound quality of other Samsung LCD TVs but this seemed to be absolutely fine in a medium size living room, and the picture quality on Freeview is excellent.

We bought this to be ready for the imminent Digital Switchover,and the only minor niggle is this:
If when you go to change channels you accidentally hit the 0 (zero) button, it switches to the analogue tuner. The documentation doesn't mention this or tell you how to get back to the DTV tuner.
We found by trial and error that hitting the next channel button (perhaps several times) flips you back to the DTV tuner.

I tried it with an HDMI feed from my digital SLR (stills only, can't find what the resolution is supposed to be) and the picture quality was also excellent, very sharp.

You get what you pay for!
I bought this as an overflow for a wedding reception at home, put it up 3 days before and it nearly blew away in a light breeze, pulled the thin pegs out of the ground, so I re-did it, using 2 pegs on every foot, tied it down on 6 legs and used 4 bags of sand to hold it down. It then buckled the framework, because the sides act like sails, if it cant move it buckles. It wasnt that windy either, 'metcheck' said it was 10 mph gusts. There is no way of securing the sides to the floor. the frame seems weak and wobbly, using light plastic corner pieces and thin tubing, and the roof and sides are a light tarpaulin that is easily split, and is held on by velcro. I ended up taking it down the day before and had a packed house. It was cheap but mine was thrown in the bin un-used and bent. Would be fine if there is absolutely no wind though!

if it's windy where you live do not buy this Maequee. this was erected when the weather was calm. As soon as the wind arose the seams ripped apart and made it useless.

Very Impressed
I bought this for a birthday party, in-case it rained, my guests would have somewhere to shelter. I found it very easy to erect, using the guy ropes it held down very securly although I placed a brick on each foot to give it some extra stability. The tent stayed up for over 2 weeks, it rained on it, it was shook around by the wind and although one of the centre rods on the roof come unatactched (it was pretty windy) the structure remained standing!. All in all a very good product that did just what I wanted it to do and it looked good.

This product has shortcomings. Instructions are VERY brief and markings on poles are tiny and delicate. I had to colour code the poles to ensure that I would be able to erect it next time.
I used it in a slight breeze and the 'velcro' fastening strips kept coming undone (some were too short) and tended to tear away from the tent material. It will need strengthening before it is used again. It could do with tent peg loops at the bottom of the sides if it is used in a breeze.
I did not expect it to be robust for a strong wind but the only time you would use a party tent is when there is rain/breeze!

Very poor product
This gazebo is by far one of the worst purchases I have ever made.
I would advise anybody who intendes purchasing one of these gazebos to seriously consider where they intend to errect it, if is going to be subjected to a breeze or slight wind DO NOT ERRECT IT, there is no way of securing the side and end panels to the ground concequently the wind literally tears the panels away from the velcro fasteners, (which are very poor)leaving you with the problem of how to secure the panels to the framework (I used Duck Tape).
If it rains, the rainwater seeps through the top canopy where it touches against the framework.
The numbering on the framework poles are very small and easily come off, making it more of a problem if or when you want to use the gazebo again at a later date. Personally I will not be using mine ever again.
My advise to whoever reads this review is to spend some extra cash and purchase a more substantial marquee.

Amazing value for money

Arrived quickly, and was very very easy to put up, we were really surprised how big the 4.5x3 one actually is!

Bought this as a contingency 'in case' it rained - I wanted one of the longer sides to be open which was no problem and it still looked great (see pic).

It ended up being our 'booze tent' as it didn't rain. However all my guests were very impressed and just stunned when I told them how much it cost - amazing value and quality for the money.

One of my best buys.

PS3 slim installed below TV and I for one like the look of the new machine. The Slim is much smaller, the pics don't do it justice. The matt finish is different but I always thought the glossy finish of the old model was tacky and a pain to keep clean. Click buttons not a problem to me either. As for the noise reduction I'm not sure, the old PS3 was so much quieter than the 360 next to it that it never detracted from games or movies. Overall very pleased with update!

Some information for those considering making a pre-order
Some details about the new slim from a variety of sources on the web :)

* This Playstation 3 has a 120gb hard drive (compared to the current PS3 which has 80GB).
* This Playstation has a matt finish, and is rough to touch compared to the smooth, shiny but finger print magnet finish of the current 80gb model.
* There are no "touch buttons" , the two buttons are now physical buttons and make a click when you press them. (Eject and Power button).

* The PS logo cannot be rotated anymore (the one near the drive, for those who want to make it stand vertical.)
* You will lose the option to install another Operating System.
* You will need a separate vertical stand, if you want it to stand vertically. (Coming soon).
* There are fewer vents, compared to the 80gb, which has one side dedicated to being a vent, so this new slim model is quieter and runs cooler.

* The drive is louder than the current 80gb model, but not to the point where you hate the device or something. This is believed to be because of a cheaper drive being used (speculation from reporters). However the Playstation runs quieter in general - when the drive isn't in use.
* For those with Bravia TV's this now supports Bravia Sync.
* It's the same as the 80gb model (lacks card readers and playstation2 support).
* It will ship with firmware 3 (firmware for other PS3 users will be released on September 1st).

It's basically a more affordable Playstation 3. Hope this helps making your preorder :)

The best just got better
I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on a release of the new slim PS3.

Sure, it may have lost a couple of features from my first generation model, but the positives certainly outweigh the negatives. There's little point in my comparing the stats; you can read that information in lots of other places.

An essential buy, particularly if you don't own a Blu-ray player yet.

Tip: Get the £14 Sony remote: it's much more natural than using the standard controller.

A Good Evolutionary Step Forward
Pros:

Cons:

-Photos taken on camera only really look good on the DSi screen
-Shorter battery life
-Web browser isn't the greatest
-The lack of a GBA slot means you can't play GBA games, use some of the DS Lite's accessories (such as a rumble pack) and makes some games like Guitar Hero World Tour virtually unplayable

In 2004, Nintendo released the original Nintendo DS. Just two years later, the Nintendo DS Lite debuted and was better than the original by far. Since its original release, the Nintendo DS has gone on to sell more than 100 million units worldwide. With sales numbers like that, why would Nintendo need to release another revamp of their prized handheld? More than that, are the new features worth picking up if you have a DS Lite or if you still have an original DS? Well, it can be, but if you're perfectly content with your original DS or your DS Lite there's nothing wrong with that, and you don't have to buy it. That's not to say it would be a bad investment. For some it might be worth it.

Certainly if you still have the original DS, it is worth investing in this newer update. There are quite a few new things about the Nintendo DSi that can make it worth buying. One of the first changes that is obvious from the moment you see it is that it's slightly smaller and designed a little differently. The power button has been moved and now doubles as a reset button. The screen is also slightly bigger and brighter than the DS Lite. When turning it on, there is also a notable difference in the interface which has been completely reworked all together. It's been made a bit easier to use.

Perhaps the biggest and most notable difference is that the DSi no longer has a slot to play Gameboy Advance games. If you're still playing your GBA games a lot, this is probably a pretty big subtraction when it comes to the DSi, no matter how much it includes. If you're someone who hasn't used your DS for playing GBA games in a while, it's probably not a big deal, but I would've gladly taken a slightly thicker handheld just to maintain the GBA slot. There is, however, a slot for an SD card to store more data. The first of these is the wi-fi service which you can get on and download some downloadable games for the DSi. Much like the Wii, you'll spend points (100 points is equal to one dollar) to buy games. There's also the built in web browser, but this is not something to jump up and down over really, as it isn't a very good web browser.

The camera is a nice addition, allowing you to customize and mess around with the pictures you take. They don't look good on anything but the DSi screen, however, but you can store them on an SD card or the DSi's internal memory. You can take quite a bit of photos, and mess around with them in interesting ways, such as drawing on them or manipulating faces. It can be fun to mess around with.

While the new additions are nice the more expensive price is a bit much for those who are already carrying a DS Lite. There are some new features but there isn't too much done here to enhance the gaming experience itself outside of a larger screen. However, that doesn't mean it isn't worthwhile. The download service in particular can be very worthwhile in the future. The games on the download service also aren't too expensive. In short, even DS Lite owners might find it worth the extra money after a while.

Another big hit to the DSi is that the battery life just isn't as long as the previous incarnations. For those wanting to use it primarily for gaming, it might surprise you that the DSi will need to be charged a lot more frequently, as the battery last five hours shorter than that of the DS Lite. It takes a bit shorter to charge as a result, but you'll find yourself charging it quite a bit, especially if you play with the screen on the brightest settings.

In the end some may wonder if the upgrade is worth it. It's a bit more expensive than the DS Lite and doesn't have a GBA slot and a shorter battery life. However, you are getting some nice extra features, and with Nintendo planning to implement them in some of their games in the future, it's at least worth consideration. DS Lite owners may not need to upgrade immediately, but in the future it might be worth considering. If you don't own a DS at all, the DSi is probably the best bet.

The Nintendo DSi is a nice step in the evolution of Nintendo's handheld. It has a lot of new features that can go a long way. Even DS Lite owners might want to consider updating at some point, but it still stands: if you're content with your DS Lite or original DS you don't have to get it. It's certainly worth considering, though.

Simply Awsome...
I have forever looked at the DS Lite's title screen and felt disappointed about how little it could do. Now, the DSi has everything you ever wanted.

Hardware:
The DSi is a bit longer and a bit thinner, but you wouldn't notice. The matte finish is much better than the glossy finish of the DS Lite, as there will be no more finger prints, but it is prone to becoming dirty. The screens are 0.25 inches bigger, which may not sound like a lot, but it is definitely noticable when you step from the DS lite to the DSi. There is no more GBA slot, but that doesn't really matter. The volume controls are now buttons, which is much better for keeping sound quiet in public areas, but not so much so that YOU can't hear it. There is now a power button on the inside that can also return to the menu. The speakers are better and louder when you want it. There is a 0.3 MP camera next to the microphone on the inside of the hinge and one on the outside. The stylus is longer and fatter. There is an SD Card slot aswell for photos and music. Internally, there is a faster processor which games in the future will utilise.

Software:
The Wii-like menu looks very nice and is easy to use. Game cards can now be hotswapped (changed without having to turn off the system). The DSi Shop allows you to download games or DSiWare, of which there are inceasing numbers all the time, as well as the brilliant, free DSi Web Browser, which is much faster and better than expected, but cannot run Flash unfortunately. When you first log on the the DSi Shop, you get 1,000 free points (offer until march 2010 I think).

The DSi camera is only 0.3 MP, but that is enough for use on the console. There are some fun effects you can add too like Distortion Lens, Colour Pad, Mirror etc. The camera has face recognition for some effects, and there will be DSi exclusive games coming out in the future that use this feature. DSi Sound is another good program, allowing you to record sounds and play with them. More importantly, music on the SD card can be played with some fun equaliser graphics, and be slowed down and speeded up if, say, it was a learn a language CD and you wanted to slow the words down. I takes AAC files which means that you can put on your iTunes collection (but you must convert it in iTunes first). There your old favourites too: Picto Chat and DS Download Play. And remember, there is a huge library of great DS games, that this will still play (except Guitar Hero due to the GBA slot)

Overall:
This is a great console. If you have already have a DS Lite, it is a little expensive to upgrade, and I would wait to the prices come down. If not, i would fully recomend it and say that it is better than the iPod Touch and PSP.

it's great but...
i have owned my DSi for all of 35 mins and alreaddy am completely in love with it, the sound is better the screens are bigger and brighter, it has cool sound effects, fancy easy to use menus, and the camera ap effects are hilarious, however i was quite upset to find that they have removed the GBA game pack slot :( not that i have any games for it but i do have both of the guitar hero games that require the slot! its not as good on the DS as on a tv screen, but it's still pretty fun on the go. so now i will have to keep my old DS also just for that one game.
superior and superb console over all but was it really necessary to get rid of the GBA game pack slot? never the less i suggest its a great buy and deffinately worth it, especialy if you don't use old games. buy it, it's beautiful and you know it!

The Beginner's Guide
I'm going to aim this review at people who have never really played video games before or who have only had a passing interest, as I think there may be quite a lot of you who are considering, or actively trying your best in, purchasing a Wii. If you are a more experienced gamer, you may find another review more helpful.

Basically you take the Wii home, get it out of the box, plug it into your TV and into the mains just like a DVD player, and then plug the 'sensor bar' into the Wii unit. You then place this same sensor either on top of or just underneath your television. The sensor bar is basically a long, slim grey piece of rectangular plastic with a cable running out to plug it into the Wii.

You then put some batteries into your 'Wii-mote' (Wii remote, included with the Wii console), and use it to turn the unit on. Of course, you're going to need a game to play. The Wii uses a disc format the same size and shape as a DVD; you just slot these into the unit. To get you started, Nintendo includes a game disc with the machine called 'Wii Sports'. This features Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. To actually play the games, you'll have to go through a few menus. Just use the Wii-mote by simply pointing at a particular point on your TV screen and clicking the buttons (the Wii-mote is kind of half-way between a computer mouse and a TV remote - but so much more).

It's when you actually get into the game that the fun begins. You don't just sit there pressing a series of buttons like with most video game consoles. Yes, you will probably have to push or hold one or two buttons, but the real idea here is that you move the remote around, and the sensor bar (which I told you about earlier) does the rest. The sensor bar can tell the Wii the place on the television screen where you are pointing the remote - but it also tells the machine exactly *how* you move the remote. Basically, motion sensitivity! What this means is that to play golf you hold the remote like a golf club, and take a swing; and hey presto, your on-screen character hits the golf ball with just as much power, lift and spin as you put in. There is some very well developed technology at work here!

Tennis is much the same: swing the remote like you would a tennis racquet. In bowling you hold the remote as if it were a ball and 'throw' it (you don't actually let go of it!). Each different game makes subtly different use of the remote, and there are loads available to buy: from one called Zelda where you get to sword-fight using the remote; to Wii Play which features a number of fun games; and of course, Wii Fit...but that's another review.

I can testify that this is fun for everyone, from age 3 to 63 or older. Nintendo have been sorting out supply difficulties so it's generally now much easier to get your hands on one. Reflections after 2 months of ownership
It's rare to spend £200 and not to have a moment's regret, but the Wii has been the exception for me. From the moment I set it up, it's really earned its keep in our house. The kids love it and so do I. Here's why...

1. The included Wii Sports game is extraordinary, surely the best first person sports sim on any platform. The novel control method is utterly intuitive and I've never played a computer game requiring so much physical exertion.

2. The wireless network took seconds to configure. I wish my last laptop had been so easy.

3. With the addition of games like Wii Play, Mario Party and the like, my five-year-old can compete on equal terms with the older children and with adults.

4. I still want to play Wii Sports every day.

I recommend this console unhesitatingly.

New-gen levels the playing field!
OK, so it's not a "serious" gaming machine. If I want to play Call Of Duty 3, I'll play it on my Xbox 360. If I want HD graphics, and an online multiplayer experience, then ditto.
But sometimes, you know the times, when all you want to do is have some fun, there is nothing like the Wii. The greatest thing about it, is of course, the control system, which completely levels the playing field, and rightly so. I'm a semi-serious gamer, but when I first played Wii Bowling with my 4-year old daughter, she kicked my ass. I had to learn how to bowl. When it came to Tennis, I had to time my swing, apply power, spin, loft, instead of "pressing A". When it came to Baseball, I had to perfect fastballs, pitching speed, time my swing, get the angle of the bat right. And this was just from playing 3 of the 5 Wii Sports games.

It's fun! Anyone can play! Anyone can be good at it, most are bad! More importantly, it brings the room together! Everyone wants to play this thing, people see it and want to have a go. How many video games consoles can you say that about?

Apart from the superb retail games (Wii Play and Warioware are highly recommended by the way), the Wii Shop channel allows you to download great games from Nintendo and Sega's past. So far I have bought Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Sonic, Altered Beast, Super Mario Brothers, Mario Kart 64 and Golden Axe, all games I loved as a child. I love the Xbox Live Arcade, but it's very hit and miss. The Wii Shop Channel is hit after hit.

We have found the Weather Channel extremely useful on numerous occasions, especially for 5-day forecasts. The News Channel is particularly informative and well presented. The Internet Channel is excellent, and saves us having to boot up the laptop or PC for quick enquiries. The Photo Channel is fun, if a little shallow (but it's all about fun, remember...)

Lastly, we come to the Mii Channel, which is one of the most addictive pastimes going. Creating Mii's will soon take over the world, I am sure of it. I have created everyone I know, they are all there, meandering around my Mii plaza, bumping into each other, each one exaggerated in their own special ways, and the fact that they pop up in and around your games is a great touch. FYI, I have now taken to creating famous people, which is kind of odd... My John Lennon is particularly impressive

It's not going to set the world on fire when it comes to graphics, but if you want a superb, fun, addictive, thoroughly enjoyable experience, that EVERYONE will love, then trust me, get one of these!

I have only used the gun once since I purchased but found it very easy to manage and adjust spray to required effect. Very good

using with decking oil was slightly messy.after use it was very time consuming to clean.I obtained good results where coverage was the most important but overspray wasted oil.I have not used it for oil or water based paint yet but unless used for larger areas cleaning could prohibit use.

Hardwork
Given this as a christmas present, used once to clean the shower. Can get it up to a good steam rate but requires constant pressing of the lever on the top. This makes it tiresome on the hands and somewhat difficult to use. I suppose if you just need a quick burst for a small job it would be fine, in this scenario it is quick to set up and get the steam going.

Rubbish toy
Poor build quality and a very poor amount of steam out of this thing. It doesn't even have a wide angle head on it for cleaning larger areas. Save your money and buy something better.

I got a much better unit at my local shop which actually cost less than this.

I think its great for defrosting the freezers quicker
thats all i got it for, it suits me its cheap and easy to store. Its not powerful enough for cleaning cookers etc.

Superb Powerful Pressure Washer
Superb machine, Works very well. No stoppages and run for 2hrs with no problems and powerful water jet. Cleared driveway full of sand and rubbish in no time. 10/10. Easy to setup and use.
You won't be with out it.

Great product but storing it is a pain.
For its price this pressure washer really packs a punch. The thing that lets it down is the fact that you can't really store the power cord easily (a retractable cord like most vacuums would have been ideal) nor can you store the hose so these parts tend to flap around when carrying it about.
But the many attachments and soap area make this washer the one to get if you're on a budget.

I have spent ages looking for an adapter to fit the included accessories to the lance, that come with the unit.There was no instuctions on how these attach or what part you need to get. Can someone help me please?

Hose cart very good, instructions could be slightly better. Hose reel kinks far to easily, would have benefited from a better hose reel.

It's a nightmare to put together as the instructions arn't too good. The hose part could do with being a bit higher as you have to bend right over to wind the hose. You have to put your foot on the bottom bar to hold it in place whilst reeling in the hose as well. But I must say well worth the money no leaks at all I'm very pleased with product and price.

It holds hose ok, but....
It holds the hose ok, but in order to rewind you, you have to bend over, place one foot on the front metal frame and wind.
Failure to this and the thing topples over.

This yellow hose also kinks horribly, so best to hold the hose between both legs and twist a bit to layer the hose.

All in all - the more expensive products are easier to use, but this pack away in a corner real good and it is Hoselock quality -so mine has lasted. That means hard to justify buying the better model. (I have one anyhow)

This hozelock product is ideal for larger gardens (or where your car is a long way from the tap) The manual unwind is acieved by simly pulling the hose and the rewind is by crank handle. Both work very well and avoid the usual snagging and twisting that comes with conventional reels, especially over long lengths. All fixings are provided, but you will probably need a longer than supplied piece of hose to connect from the reel mounting point to your outside tap.

Make sure you fix it properly to a wall because its quite heavy and always use the supplied multiway guide bracket to direct the hose as this ensures the auto reelspooling mechanism works. You can also buy an extra guide bracket to fix on a wall corner to stop chaffing if the hose has to be deployed around corners - what a good idea and well done Hozelock for thinking of this.

DIY tools are required to fix to wall, but otherwise the item is fully assembled straight from the box. The Reel can also be removed from its mounting bracket for winter storage if required. Only minor point is that the rewind from fully extended takes some effort but will keep you fit. Always unplug the quick fit connector from the tap before winding in or out as this makes winding easier.
A very good product, but make sure you have a good mounting site as it cannot be used free standing.

Fantastic console, fun for all the family. No problems yet again with ordering from Amazon. Arrived without any problems. Have to admire Nintendo too as they always put batteries in their boxes :-)

Over a year old, so what do I think now?
It is easy and tempting to review a product quickly after purchase. However, when you buy a games console you are actually making quite an important choice these days, after all they have never been cheap and have now become a social medium for friends and family.

But hold on...I think I'm being too general. Lets face it the Wii, unlike its rivals, is immensely popular because it can be enjoyed by various age groups or different ability gamers, who now can use a very innovative control system that is different to any other commercial console out there. When I play with friends...or family (of which some did previously believe such a device to be for youngsters or geeks), it is generally because a "Wii night" has been arranged. Who would have thought a games console now has a dedicated time slot in our lives. But importantly we all have a great time laughing at each others inadequate swing or hoola hooping (thank you Wii fit) and feel that little bit better about ourselves, despite the occasional embarrassment.

So, I think it is safe to assume that I enjoy playing the Wii and believe I have made an excellent choice for a games console. However like many other gamers who have been playing for many years, I still crave the use of a controller that lets me just exercise my fingers. Luckily I have previous systems, and whilst they do not have "high resolution/definition graphics, still provide some outstanding game-play. Also, many football games, fighting games and driving games (obviously referring to the addictive Mario-Kart here), include the use of the traditional GameCube controller which also "scratches the itch."

There is no disputing that hardcore gamers want traditional methods of play sometimes, but for a console that can actually provide so much there is nothing more satisfying than the Wii. For this reason and probably more without wishing to bore the reader, I have and surely will be playing with the same enthusiasm in a few years to come.

I received the package promptly. I was very nervous, because I didn't know if installation with TV would cause a lot of problems. Luckily, that has not happened, because it took a few minutes to do that and it was easy! A good-sized Digital integrated TV would be recommended! But I should get two remote controls instead of one! this bag looks small but you really can carry your stuff around with you, it has 2 side pockets which you can fit 2 tapes sideways so thats 4 tapes the main compartment where your camcorder fits i've left the bubble wrap on the camcorder for extra safety . also stored the leads for connecting to the t.v. also the case for the tape in the camcorder.

i bought this, as it was recommended for the camcorder i bought at the same time - sony DCRSR37ES handycam. this was misleading as you can fit 2, possibly 3 of the handycams into it. didn't return it as it would've been too much hassle.

Soft case
This is nice product, but a bit expensive for such item. I would evaluate it for 5-6 pounds maximum.

Good shape, but uncomfortable
Ok - the bra gives you a good shape and firm support. However, on me the straps sat close to my neck which somehow makes the weight distribution uneven across your back. As I am quite large chested, this made it so uncomfortable that I could only wear this bra for a few hours at a time. It also comes quite high up your chest, so you can only really wear high necked tops with it.

Excellent for beginners and those interested in fitness. Gloves may be required by some. Very good value.

A Weighty product
These dumbbells are excellent value. I haven't found a problem with the grips on them either, the grips aren't that rough.
I bought these dumbbells and the York Standard Cast Iron Discs X4. I found it the cheapest way to get a great set of heavy dumbbells. If you buy 2 sets of the 7.5kg plates you can get upto 30kg+ on these easy.

Good quality for the price
Only wanted little ones but seen this pack at near enough the same price so i bagged a bargin i reckon. Just means i share them with the other half

This is my favourite game - it is fun to play on your own - but you can have a great laugh when playing with others. Sign in online and play along with more gamers.

best game for the wii so far
im not a particular fan of driving games as after a while they make me feel sick , but i have never had this with mariocart maybe becasue there is lots of other things going on and its great if you are a family and you have wifi as this gives you another dimension playing with somone in china or boston. cant rate this higher play this more than any other game.

Nintendo - The Next Generation?
Let me begin by stating I am not a fanboy, and I have never had an allegiance to a particular console or manufacturer. However I grew up playing many of the Nintendo systems and have long felt they provided a magic other companies couldn't compete with. It was for this reason I purchased a Wii. As it sits gathering dust in the corner two years on I've realised it was an unnecessary purchase. As a 20 something male I feel the Wii isn't for me, and have since sought my gaming kicks in other consoles.
For family fun it probably can't be beaten but for like minded gamers as myself you should look elsewhere. There simply aren't enough games to cater for the more hardcore gamer who requires a little more depth. Sure there are classics like Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy that are worth anyones time but the catalogue of truly great games is pretty thin.
Nintendo seem to have created their own market for a new generation of gamers, a family games system that even grandma can join in on the fun. However I cant help feeling they've lost the generation of gamers who helped build their gaming legacy.

fun for around 1 week, only buy one if you have children under ten or if you're an unconfident middle aged housewife and think you need to loose weight.

if you are either of the above, i suggest either buying a gym membership or an exircise bike...fatso

A revolution in gaming
Nintedo wii is the best console out there. It is easy to use. Fun to use. And cheaper than a lot of consoles of its size. Wii is for everyone regardless of their video game tastes. You can play a 4 player bowling tournament at home, or with a different game and the right downloads you can play over the internet- yes it can also connect to the internet via wi-fi-or just chill out on your own with a more relaxed game. I think wii is the best and you should buy it for yourself and your family if pure entertainment is what your out for.
